World Axial Spondyloarthritis Day 2025

This day is dedicated to raising awareness about axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA), a chronic, progressive inflammatory disease that primarily affects the spine and sacroiliac joints, often causing pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility.

But what is axSpA exactly? It’s a condition that can severely impact daily life, sometimes making even the simplest tasks—like tying shoelaces—a real challenge. That’s why this year’s theme, “Lace Up for axSpA”, is such a powerful symbol. It’s a call to action and empathy, reminding us to step into the shoes of those who live with this invisible illness every day. A big thank you to the Axial Spondyloarthritis International Federation (ASIF) for their tireless advocacy and support for people living with axSpA around the world.

At the research level, projects like ENDOTARGET EU Project are helping uncover the gut-joint connection, exploring how intestinal health and systemic inflammation contribute to diseases like axSpA. By identifying early biomarkers and developing new therapeutic strategies, we move closer to more effective, personalised care.

Today and every day, we stand with the axSpA community, raising awareness, promoting understanding, and supporting the journey toward better health.
