Loneliness Awareness Week 2025
This week, we take a moment to reflect on a powerful but often invisible experience: loneliness.
Loneliness can affect anyone, regardless of age, background, or circumstance, and it can have a profound impact on both mental and physical health. Research shows strong links between chronic loneliness and inflammation, as well as its role in worsening symptoms of long-term conditions like arthritis, cardiovascular disease, and depression.
In health research, including projects like ENDOTARGET EU Project, we are reminded that science doesn’t just focus on cells and molecules. It focuses on people ❕ Creating integrated, person-centred care means understanding the emotional and social dimensions of illness, including the isolation that chronic conditions can bring.
Let’s use this week to foster connection, kindness, and community.
