World Autoimmune Arthritis Day 2025
Today, we stand in solidarity with the millions of people around the world living with autoimmune arthritis, including conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and axial spondyloarthritis. These chronic illnesses are not only physically painful but often invisible, affecting joints, mobility, energy levels, and overall quality of life. This day is a powerful reminder of the need for awareness, advocacy, and innovation. While symptoms vary, the shared reality is one of autoimmunity, where the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks its own tissues. Early diagnosis, personalised treatment, and continued research are vital to improving outcomes and empowering those affected.
Projects like the ENDOTARGET EU Project are working to unravel the underlying mechanisms of autoimmune arthritis by exploring the gut-joint axis and investigating how intestinal health, systemic inflammation, and biomarkers play a role in disease development and progression. This research is helping pave the way for more targeted, gut-informed therapies in the future.
A big thank you to the AiArthritis (International Foundation for Autoimmune & Autoinflammatory Arthritis) for their tireless advocacy and support for people living with autoimmune or autoinflammatory arthritis diseases.
