The SHIFT-HUB Project aims at establishing a pan-European Smart Health Innovation Hub with the goal of promoting the adoption of Smart Health technologies and services across Europe. Project Overview
The SHIFT-HUB project is focused on creating a pan-European Smart Health Innovation Hub to facilitate the adoption of Smart Health technologies and services. The project aims to bring together various stakeholders along the healthcare value chain, including patients, healthcare practitioners, technology providers, knowledge and infrastructure providers, innovation intermediaries, financial intermediaries, and public authorities.
The SHIFT-HUB Project’s innovative approach includes the use of the Living Lab methodology, an open innovation approach, and a technical platform. The technical platform encompasses a Health Data Hub that helps app developers to test and further develop smart health applications. Additionally, the SHIFT-HUB project provides a community platform and a focus group where stakeholders can connect, stay informed about project events and workshops, and discuss critical topics in the Smart Health field.

  • Networking and Matchmaking: The project offers a comprehensive service that integrates networking and matchmaking for stakeholders. It aims to connect the different actors within the healthcare ecosystem and create opportunities for collaboration.
  • Guidance for Accessing Funding: SHIFT-HUB provides guidance and support for accessing funding for Smart Health initiatives. This includes helping startups and SMEs assess and enhance their investor readiness and identifying available private and public funding opportunities.
  • Smart Health Literacy: This service is designed to empower the community members, particularly healthcare practitioners and their patients, with the necessary knowledge and skills to leverage emerging solutions in the field of Smart Health for daily tasks.
  • Living Labs for Empowering Patients and Citizens: SHIFT-HUB offers immersive and interactive Living Labs to allow citizens and patients to discover emerging Smart Health solutions and provide valuable feedback to developers. This feedback helps tailor solutions to better meet the needs of end-users.
  • Discover, Demonstrate, and Test Before Investment: SHIFT-HUB facilitates the showcasing of solutions developed by the community members to healthcare organizations, practitioners, patients, and citizens. This includes collaboration with external Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) to promote selected solutions to potential users.
  • Gamified User Journey: The project incorporates gamification and e-learning journeys to create an immersive experience for patients and citizens. It aims to raise awareness, engage the community in educational activities, and induce behavioral changes that lead to improved prevention and self-management for targeted pathologies.
  • Open innovation and co-creation: Open Innovation workshops will be organized to allow technology providers (and in particular technology-oriented SMEs and start-ups), healthcare practitioners and other supportive partners stakeholders to address together major challenges of the Healthcare industry. This service focuses on creating a cross-fertilization process among representative stakeholders of the Smart Health community, across the dimensions of the quadruple helix, to co-design and co-develop solutions answering the current sectorial challenges.
